Đakovo State Stud
Croatia
Thanks to the Lipizzaner horses, the town of Đakovo and the State Stud Farm have gained worldwide fame – from the world championships up to the royal courts. The famous Lipizzan horses four-in-hand from Đakovo travelled all around Europe – from Achen, München and Luzern to Windsor, and from Budapest, Vienna and Verona all the way to the glorious Rome. A large number of Lipizzaners from our State Farm proudly bears the title of European champions
In the region of Slavonia, horses and people have been living together for centuries. Horses have had an indispensable role when it comes to land cultivation, food production, transportation of goods, but also defending the homeland.
The role of Lipizzaners has changed over the years, so they came to be a friend to the people from the region of Slavonia – a friend they cherish, breed and admire. The Lipizzaner horse is at the same time symbol of the past and, as a tourist attraction, a symbol of the future.
The State Stud Farm Đakovo is of great importance to the town Đakovo and the region of Slavonia, but also to entire Croatia. The long tradition of Lipizzan horse breeding is so firmly rooted in the region of Slavonia that has become a fundamental, fully fledged part of every tourist, economy and sports postcard.

The State Stud Đakovo has two focal points where the Lipizzaner horses is taking cared of :
• Stallion Station
• Ivandvor.
Stallion Station is located in the centre of Đakovo, and is home to stallions who are trained for equestrian sports and carriage driving (horse pairs and four-in-hands) and use for the riding school. The Stallion Station is a real treasure chest where various records, original stud books, hundreds of golden and silver trophies that the horses from Đakovo won in numerous competitions are kept. It also houses a newly built indoor riding arena, a central location for all the activities at the Stud Farm Đakovo – performances, equestrian shows and other events.
Ivandvor was founded by Bishop Ivan Krapac in 1912 and it has retained its original appearance up to this day. This location is home to around 130 Lipizzan horses – foundation mares and foals, and also young stallions, grazing the open, vast, green pastures.
Breeding and selection are constantly supervised by horse breeding experts in order to ensure progress in selection and preserve the elite genetic potential of the Lipizzan horse breed in the Republic of Croatia.
