National Stud Avenches
Swiss National Stud Farm SNSTF
Les Longs Prés
CH-1580 Avenches, Switzerland
The Swiss National Stud (SNSTF) is located at the picturesque town of Avenches, a historic Roman settlement. The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bern and Lake Geneva are in short distance.
The institution is a pillar of equine excellence in Switzerland. Founded in 1899, it is now an internationally recognised center of equine competence.
Avenches stud is particularly attentive to the Franches-Montagnes horse, the only native Swiss horse breed still in existence. It invests much in applied research, especially on behavior, health and equine fertility.
The stud provides knowledge and competence for breeders and horse keepers. Through Equigarde training courses and the documentation center a lot of information is made available for professionals, students and other interested people.
