Horse fair "Cheval Passion" January 2011 at Avignon, France
Stallions from four nations enchanted French audience at "Cheval Passion"
With a "European Quadrille" the European State Studs Association (ESSA) presented itself from 19th to 23rd of January at the French horse fair "Cheval Passion" at Avignon. Sportive Warmbloods from the German State Stud Marbach, congenial Freiberger horses from the Suisse National Stud Avenches, impressive Coldbloods from the French National Studs and baroque Lipizzaners from their home stud in Slovenia gave an impression of the diversity of Europe's horse population.
The State Studs' performance opened the fully sold out Gala evenings "Des Crinières d'Or". Fabien und Maurice Galle set the stage for the performances with live music and atmospheric illumination.
The European State Studs Association's information stand provided information about its activities and the partner studs of the network. During the fair the French National Studs Rodez, Uzès, Tarbes and St. Lô joined ESSA, which by now counts roughly 30 of the most influential European studs as members.
ESSA campaigns for the preservation of the cultural heritage of Europe's state studs. Besides the historic stud premises and cultural landscapes, knowledge, skills and traditions which were passed on from generation to generation, the living heritage "horse" plays an important part of the studs' cultural significance. Everyone can join the network as supporting member. Detailed information can be found here on several pages of the website www.europeanstatestuds.org
